Christal and Barrett's wedding was definitely unique but it was absolutely beautiful. It was held in the aVenue downtown (which is located right beside the entrance to the Pedestrian Bridge). Everything was perfect...from the hanging twinkle lights, to the strawberry salad served in martini glasses, to the sunglasses handed out on the dance floor. Here are some images from their big day!

So sorry to my followers...I haven't blogged in so long! I have been caught up by the holidays, and I deeply apologize. I've had a lot of fun shoots during my time away from the interwebs, and I'll be sharing them today. The first one is a family shoot with the Cains. Here's just one, because the shoot was Thursday. As you can remember, Madison (the girl in the middle) is an upcoming singer here in Nashville. I had a great shoot with her a couple of months back, and I'm so happy to have gotten to know her and her family. They are good people!

Whitney and Rolland came in for the weekend, and it was our first time meeting one another. They are a great couple! I really enjoyed spending the day with them. I just only wished they didn't live in Texas. It was October 30th when we did our shoot, so we definitely saw a bunch of little kids in costumes getting their picture taken at the Warner Park. Ok, so I got the go ahead to be able to post photos from this shoot. Madison Cain is one rockin' 16 year old. She is up for a role in the new Footloose movie and she needed some new photos showing her carefree 16 year old self. I am in love with all the images from the day, so I will probably share more then you actually want to see. It was perfect lighting. After the field, we went back to her house in Brentwood to shoot some more. You should Google her, because Madison is awesome.

Mandy + Michael :: A Union to Remember!

So this past Labor Day Sunday, I shot one of the most perfectly small and wonderfully planned weddings. I have known Mandy since college, and was so thrilled when she asked me to capture her day! She made everything by hand, and everything was perfectly made. It was in her parent's backyard with around 100-ish guests. It was so fun. When doing the exit, they used regular sparklers instead of "wedding sparklers", which made for a very smokey exit. Here are a couple of images from the day. More to come in the next couple of days.

I shot a wedding yesterday at the Carnton Plantation in Franklin, TN. It is such a beautiful venue on land that only God could create. And he was ever present yesterday and last night during Josh and Katie's wedding. It thundered and rained during prep for the wedding, and thankfully the rain stopped for the ceremony. During the reception there was a lightning storm and it was awesome. Here are a few images from yesterday evening...I'll post more soon.

At the end of the photo shoot today, the heavens opened and it just started pouring down rain. Barrett and Christal were so laid back and super fun, they just decided to go with it and get a couple of shots in the rain. This is the kind of couple I love working with! They trudged through all the tall grass, endured the heat and humidity...all while putting smiles on their faces. :) What more could I want? This is a shot from today's rain portion...it might be a favorite of mine, even though the faces are kind of blocked by the rain. More photos to come in the next couple of days.

Summer in Arrington

This past Saturday I shot a lovely couple for their engagement session. They got engaged at Arrington Vineyards, so we went back for the first part of the shoot. It was my first time there and it is an absolutely gorgeous place. I'm not kidding. So pretty. I am definitely going to go back when I can enjoy the wine tastings and beautiful landscape. Mandy's Bridal Shoot

Mandy Spears is a good friend, and I couldn't be more happy to be involved in her wedding process! Last weekend we did a Bridal shoot for her, and I was in love with her dress. The next day, come to find out, she bought ANOTHER wedding dress! So, her Bridal shoot dress is now the reception dress...instead of the wedding dress. I still can't post any full body photos of the dress, so I'll just share a couple of my favorite "head" shots...and a leg shot as well.

Last weekend, during the Flood of 2010, I shot a wedding for a wonderful couple. Jackie and Joey are two of the sweetest most caring people you will ever meet. Their love for God certainly shines through whatever they do. The plan was to have the wedding outside at the Tap Root Farm in Franklin. Once rumors of rain started circulating, they rounded up a Plan B...that was to have the wedding in a screened in covered porch. But once the rains came down...and down...and kept coming down...Plan B was flooded. So, they moved to Plan C and had the ceremony and reception inside the Tap Root Farmhouse. The couple that lived there couldn't have been more awesome. Here are some shots from that crazy day!

I did a bridal shoot this past Saturday in Murfreesboro. It was an absolutely beautiful day. The bride wanted to do the shoot at her grandmother's house, and I couldn't have been happier with what I found inside. Gorgeous interior and stunning antique furniture. Needless to say, I was a happy photographer that day. I also couldn't have had a better family to work with. Unfortunately, as with all Bridal shoots, I can't release the photos until after the wedding. But I do want to show you her shoes because, well...they're awesome.

So I'm back from NY, but unfortunately I don't have many pictures to share. Somewhere between LaGuardia airport and BNA, I lost my little Canon Powershot...so all my photos are gone. It was so sad!! But then I had to remind myself it's just a material thing; and while the pictures are gone, the memories will last me until I get to go back to NYC again.

In other news, I've done a couple of engagement shoots since I have been back. I have also been meeting with a lot of clients for the 2010 Wedding Season. I am so blessed to be able to live my passion every day. Here is a sneak peek of some of the shoots I have done in February.

Ok, so I haven't posted any photos in a while. I apologize. But I just got a new camera and two new lenses and I am completely ecstatic. I purchased a D700 with a 50mm and 17-24mm. I just had a shoot with a local musician, and very good friend, Tyler Flowers. He is completely amazing. It was my first shoot with my new camera. I'm in the middle of editing them, but I want to post a couple. Also, next weekend I get the privilege of traveling to Austin, TX to shoot a wedding. I'm looking forward to that!!

Saturday was installation three of Lauren's portfolio. She took one of her sister's friends, Becca, and made her into a glorious peacock! The hair was so spectacular and the makeup was awesome. I'm just now editing today, but wanted to post a picture or two from the shoot. I'll put more up later.

This engagement shoot was so much fun, and super easy. Hector and Caroline knew exactly what to do and they were naturally candid...so that made it easier on my part! Friday night I had the terrific opportunity to be the official photographer at Martina McBride's launch party for her new country-techno songs. It was quite the first experience...needless to say, I had no clue what I was supposed to be doing, but I pretended like I was a pro. That eased my nerves a bit. The party wasn't what I expected, but it was definitely a great learning experience. Thanks to Jenna Menking of Murph and Cassidy PR for the great opportunity!

Here are some of the photos from the second installation for Lauren's portfolio. I discovered a new technique in Photoshop, and I'm pretty excited about it. The first two are examples of it. It's really simple. You go to "Selective Color" and you play with your colors as normal, then you got to "Neutral" in the color list and minimize the black until you get the desired look [like below]. I'm glad I found out how to do this. And as you can probably see, I am in some of the photos. Lauren wanted to use me as one of the hair models, so I asked one of my friends to be my second shooter/assistant for the day. She did a very excellent job!

Today was the big installation of the photo shoot. It was the most stressed I have been in years. Literally. It's rare for me to get stressed, but when it happens...man, oh man, it's bad. We were running late with hair and makeup, so all the sunlight I wanted had already passed. But we made it to our location and got some excellent shots. I'm editing them right now, and I can't wait to post some in a couple of hours. Thanks soooo much to my dear friends Kim, Rachel, Sarah, and Meghan for helping make this shoot a success.
